Top 10 Things to Do

The Paxson area is spectacularly beautiful and a unique destination for many travelers. This eastern side of the Alaska Range presents the visitor with wilderness and high alpine scenery equal to and, in many Alaskans' and visitors' opinions, surpassing the more commonly-visited Denali Park region, with absolutely none of its crowds or driving restrictions. With the variety of tours we offer, and ample opportunities for independent exploration, we highly recommend a two to three night stay

1 Hike to Swan Lake, a beautiful hideaway in the Paxson Wildlife Reserve, a short hike from your cabin. An excellent opportunity to view moose, salmon, nesting trumpeter swans, and boreal forest birds.

2 Visit to our local Sockeye salmon hatchery.

3 Denali Highway hike in the alpine tundra with its gorgeous views of the massive Alaska Range and millions of acres of unspoiled wilderness.

4 Denali Highway Morning Van Tour to learn about this magnificent region.

5 Sit on your cabin’s deck and and enjoy the sound of the river and the views of Paxson Mountain.

6 Hike to the Gulkana Glacier, 10 miles north of the cabins.

7 Drive to a lookout mountain with 360 degree views of the Alaska Range, Chugach Range, and Wrangell-St. Elias peaks.

8 Get up close to the Alaska pipeline and marvel at this feat of engineering.

9 Enjoy peace, quiet, and rural isolation in the foothills of one of the continent’s most magnificent mountain ranges.

10 Pick blueberries, discover wild mushrooms, fish for grayling and enjoy the bounty.

What Guests Are Saying

"It is FABULOUS! The individual cabins are great (very comfy beds, excellent facilities) and the hosts are just plain delightful."
